OUR STORY

Since he was a kid, Vincent D'Elia Sr. had a vision that one day he'd have a bakery of his own. He loved baking in the kitchen with his mother and when it came time for college, he attended Johnson & Wales University and received his degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. Soon after graduating he found himself working for Mondello's bakery in Woodhaven, where he would wash pans and mop floors. Whenever he had the opportunity, he would work with the elder bakers. They took him under their wing and taught him techniques he still uses today. He worked his way up through the years as a baker and left Mondello's after it sold. He soon found a job at the famous Everbest Bakery, where he became the full time mixer and made all the doughs and cake mixes for the shop. He enjoyed the science of the baking process and learned recipes at Everbest that he still uses to this day. After years of working side jobs cutting lawns and cleaning public lots, he was ready open his own shop. In 2003 he found a spot in Massapequa and he turned it into his second home. His family worked alongside him through the years to help build up the business. His wife, Andrea, is the heartbeat of the company. She handles all the inner workings of the business side of things while Vinny concentrates on day to day operations. His daughter Ashley studied the art of making elegant fondant cakes and went on to craft thousands of custom cakes throughout the years. Her work can be seen on our Custom Cakes page. His other daughter, Antoinette, became a store manager and built lasting relationships with the customer base as the business grew. Customers still ask for her by name to this day. His son, Vinny Jr. worked alongside him and learned the art of baking at a young age. He now continues to manage the store along with Antoinette.

For nearly twenty years, Bestever Bakery has been a community place that caters to all orders, big and small. In 2022, we refreshed our brand by renaming the company Vin's Bake House. We are a family shop dedicated to baking the old fashioned way.
